Nyrkkisääntönä voidaan pitää 2-tahtiset: 4500-5500 ja 4-tahtiset: 5000-6000 kier/min. Mikäli huippukierroksia halutaan muuttaa, tulee muistaa että 1 tuuman ero nousussa nostaa/laskee moottorin maksimikierroksia noin 200-300 kier/min. Mikäli nousukulmaa kasvatetaan laskee kierrosluku ja päinvastoin.

Esimerkki:
Potkurin koko on ilmoitettu seuraavasti 10 x 12, jolloin viimeinen luku 12 tarkoittaa nousua.
