Fluorocarbonsiimojen suurin etu verrattuna nylonsiimoihin on lähes täydellinen näkymättömyys vedessä. Ne eivät myöskään veny monofiilisiiman tavoin. Tällöin tuntuma vieheeseen säilyy parempana ja vastaiskuihin saadaan selvästi enemmän tehoa. Kalastajille, jotka eivät halua käyttää kuitusiimoja mutta arvostavat kuitenkin samoja ominaisuuksia. Fluorohiilisiimat kestävät myös kulutusta paljon enemmäin kuin monofiili ja kuitusiimat.
